Listen, I like a little variety and I love taking a little risk here and there with my clothing. Ask any of my friends (those who truly know me from way back when) and they will tell you I used to rock boy’s surf shorts like it was nobody’s business. While all of my girlfriends were buying their Roxy, Mossimo and Rusty surf shorts in the girl’s departments, I was stealing my brother’s shorts and loving every minute. Why do I like to borrow from the boys, you may ask? Well, it’s unexpected, for one. It is sexy, without being “in your face”; it leaves a lot to the imagination (I’m not a fan of  “putting it all out there”) and, it’s outside my comfort zone.

So now, I’m married. And I have an endless supply of male clothing at my disposal bahahaha (insert evil laugh..ok that’s corny..) and I will take advantage of this opportunity every chance I get because guess what? My husband and I are practically the same size clothes-wise. How lucky am I, huh? Don’t answer that. Anywho, one of the main reasons I love menswear is because I am pretty curvy and some menswear pieces (like denim and certain tees and shirts) are cut with enough room for the clothes to fit well on a curvy woman’s body. Of course, you have to consider the brand because this will not be the case with every brand clothing out there. For me, the juxtaposition between a feminine piece mixed in with a masculine one is one of the sexiest things a woman can rock. It gives me an extra boost to my confidence level I dunno why. The best way to achieve a balance when wearing men’s pieces is to offset the vibe with a few feminine pieces that are not so obviously feminine. A fringe bag in a dark, wine color, ikat print high tops will pull the look in and the cherry on top: a white, skin tight denim skirt. You’re good to go. Deuces…

So ladies try it out. Get in your man’s closet. Dig through his stuff. Don’t be afraid to put on those boyfriend jeans and rock ’em out with a sick ass pair of heels and crisp, white shirt. Put on that red lipstick and step out like it’s nobody’s business. Trust me, you’re gonna love it!

‘Till next time ,

Raquel
